The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is targeting a revenue of 1,218 billion Baht in 2021 for the tourism sector, with strategies focused primarily on domestic tourism. In an interview with Thansettakij Thai newspaper, TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn said his organization planned to focus less on foreign travelers’ income and more on domestic tourists.
The Tourism Board of Thailand estimates 6.5 million foreign travelers in 2021, generating around 347 billion baht in revenue.
Conversely, 160 million Thai tourists are expected to generate around 870.4 billion baht in revenue.
A resumption in V
He added that Thai tourism would experience a V-shaped recovery from the current situation.
The TAT will launch campaigns to attract foreign tourists in April. The governor expects at least 15,000 foreigners to visit Thailand during the third quarter of this year.
The main tactic to stimulate domestic tourism is to encourage domestic travel.
