The 2021 MG Marvel R and MG5 electric

The MG Marvel R will be the brand’s second electric SUV from this spring of 2021, followed by the electric MG5 station wagon next October.

MG had warned, two new 100% electric cars were due to arrive in 2021. Now, we have their identity, and already many technical and autonomy figures have been revealed.

The Marvel R, the electric family SUV

This model will arrive more exactly in May 2021. Very close in profile to the plug-in hybrid EHS, the Marvel R is an electric family SUV. It also comes from a Chinese cousin, the Roewe Marvel X. The appearance is clearly more modern, without a grille, while the interior smells of the Tesla Model S with its giant vertical screen.

Big brother of the ZS EV via a length of 4.68 m, it is nevertheless much more powerful. With 3 motors, it accumulates 288 horsepower via the 4-wheel drive and above all a torque of 665 Nm. The 0-100 km / h thus passes under 5 seconds, for 200 km / h in peak.

The size of the battery is not yet known (52.5 kWh on the Roewe), but the range should be greater than 400 kilometers. As for the price, it should not exceed 45,000 euros, and thus benefit from the maximum ecological bonus.

The MG5, the first electric station wagon on the market

Although the station wagon industry is in decline in the face of SUVs, MG believes in it. This electric MG5 takes the basis of the Roewe i5 appeared in China in 2018, and has already started its career in the United Kingdom. If his face is seen again, his n ° 1 asset is his chest. The latter will be able to climb to 1,400 liters by lowering the rear seat, for a volume of 550 liters in a 5-seater configuration.

More powerful than across the Channel where it displays 156 hp of power, the MG5 offers here a 135 kW / 184 hp engine and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. Again, the brand communicates on more than 400 km of autonomy.

Price side, it appears at 24,495 pounds in the United Kingdom, 1,000 pounds less than a ZS EV. In France, the MG5 should therefore oscillate around 29,000 euros at launch in October, i.e. € 23,000 after bonus.
