One of the lion’s big 2021 launches, the new Peugeot 308 will feature an unprecedented plug-in hybrid version.
Design of the new Peugeot 308
The first model to incorporate Peugeot’s new logo, the new 308 will inherit the style of the latest models in the range.
If its official presentation will only take place on March 18, several pictures have already leaked onto the web. Like the new version of the 3008 SUV, Peugeot’s compact will combine a large grille with large luminous claws. At this stage, the manufacturer does not give an overview of the stern but we expect the presence of the traditional black lacquered headband and the light signature with three claws.
Powers and performance of the 308 plug-in hybrid
Based on the EMP2 platform of the PSA group, the new Peugeot 308 should inherit the same characteristics as the 508 plug-in hybrid.
Rival of the Volkswagen Golf GTE, the French compact should thus embark a plug-in hybrid powertrain of 225 horsepower. In traction, it will combine an electric unit with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine.
On the battery side, the Peugeot 308 rechargeable hybrid should receive a 13.2 kWh capacity pack. Enough to allow around 50 km of autonomy in 100% electric mode.
Marketing and prices
The 308 plug-in hybrid will be officially presented on March 18, 2021. Its launch will take place a few months later.
If it is obviously too early to discuss the prices, this future trendy 308 should prance at the top of the model’s price list. However, it should be more affordable than the current Peugeot 508 plug-in hybrid whose selling price exceeds 45,000 euros.
