Now the cat is out of the bag: The Mi 11 Ultra is here. Together with the display in the camera bumper, it was shown in advance in February. After you have long since ceased to be divided into regular standard, lite and pro models, you also have an “ultra flagship” ready.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 works inside the Mi 11 Ultra. It comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 memory. Also in the package: The X60 modem, which supplies the smartphone with the new 5G cellular generation, among other things. Including 5G dual standby for dual SIM operation. In terms of connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E is also available in addition to Wi-Fi 6.
A 6.81-inch (approx. 17 cm) display with a recess for the 20-megapixel front camera (f / 2.2) is emblazoned on the front. That is protected by Gorilla Glas Victus. At 234 grams, the smartphone is certainly not a lightweight. The AMOLED panel has a WQHD + resolution (3200 x 1440, 515 ppi) and offers up to 1700 nits of brightness in the tips. With an adaptive refresh rate between 30 and 120 Hz, a differently fluid image is displayed depending on the content. As for HDR formats, Dolby Vision and HDR10 + are supported.
Special feature of the Mi 11 Ultra: There is also a display on the back. That one is around 1.1 inches (2.79 cm) in the camera hill and is up to 450 nits bright. In addition to the selfie mirror – partly because shiny backs from other manufacturers are available – one offers the possibility of that display operate as an always-on display and also display new notifications on it.
Three lenses are used on the back. The main lens offers a resolution of 50 megapixels, an aperture of f / 1.95 and a sensor size of 1 / 1.12 inches. Optical image stabilization as well as laser autofocus and dual-pixel technology are supported, which should ensure extra sharpness of the images. The main lens also offers the ability to record 8K videos.
The ultra-wide-angle lens with a 128 degree field of view offers an aperture of f / 2.2 and also supports macro shots. It makes sense to solve this in this way instead of using lousy, dedicated macro lenses. The ultra wide angle lens can also be used to record 8K videos. Third in the group: a 48-megapixel periscope camera with f / 2.2 aperture and 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and 120x digital zoom.
A 5,000 mAh battery supplies the smartphone with enough juice. It can be filled up again in a hurry by means of 67 watt pressure refueling – both wired and wireless. Xiaomi promises a full battery charge within 36 minutes. The battery design is based on a specially developed charging technology with a 30-volt circuit for wireless charging and a new power control technology. In addition, the Mi 11 Ultra also charges other devices wirelessly with 10 watts using reverse wireless charging.
Other? An IP68 certification is on board. Dual stereo speakers from Harman Kardon are used. The Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is to appear in the colors Ceramic White and Ceramic Black. The prices for the Mi 11 Ultra for the global market start at 1,199 euros and may vary depending on the country. The prices and availability in Germany will therefore be announced at a later date.
