  • Codecademy is a popular online platform offering coding classes and certificate programs.
  • It just launched its Computer Science Career Path to help students start a computer science career.
  • The program takes about 6 months and costs $240 annually ($149.99 for current college students).

Computer science careers are on the rise: According to the US Bureau of Labor, there’s an expected 15% increase in jobs by 2029, with a median annual salary of about $126,000.

To help students transition into this career (or even just figure out if they like it without having to commit to a master’s program), Codecademy just launched its new Computer Science Career Path program.

Codecademy is an online learning platform that provides students with free and paid courses in popular programming subjects such as Python, Java, data science, and more.

The beginner-friendly Computer Science Career Path teaches students how to program with Python, build data structures, navigate databases, and use discrete math to build real-world projects like a Choose Your Own Adventure game.

Students who finish the program, which is self-paced and takes about six months to complete, earn a certificate of completion to share on their LinkedIn or resume and leave with a few projects to add to their professional portfolio.

To access the program (and many other Codecademy courses), you need to subscribe to Codecademy Pro, which costs $240 annually ($19.99 a month) for regular users, or $39.99 month-to-month.

Eligible college students can subscribe to Codecademy Pro Student, which is 35% off and costs $149.99 annually.

You can try a seven-day free trial of Codecademy Pro, or try out some of Codecademy’s free courses first to see if the platform or subject feels right for you before committing.
